IPEN comprises 700+ public interest organizations around the world. This global network works together to advocate for global policies that protect public health and the environment from harmful chemicals and collaborates for national and regional regulations to end toxic threats.

Leadership and Participation

IPEN members, called Participating Organizations (POs), primarily come from low- and middle-income countries where their communities face disproportionate risks from toxic chemicals and waste. The views, expertise, and voices of leaders from IPEN POs guide IPEN’s strategic planning and implementation of national and global policy action.

Local Expertise for Global Change

Coming from diverse regions, IPEN POs nevertheless find common ground in their deep knowledge of the local concerns of communities impacted by toxic chemicals. This local expertise is vital to inform global and national policy discussions, making them relevant to real-world conditions for communities most at risk.

Citizen Science and Policy Development

IPEN POs conduct local research and produce original science, often providing the only data on toxic chemical threats from their countries and regions. Their contributions ensure that policy debates are founded on independent science to serve the needs of people who are most impacted.

Partners for a Toxics-Free Future

Leading experts, scientists, and researchers from academia, public interest organizations, global health and medical groups, and others collaborate with IPEN on projects for health and healthy environments for all.
